Islamabad: District and Session Court Judge Humayun Dilawar has sentenced PTI Chairman Imran Khan to three years in prison and a fine of one lakh rupees in the Toshakhana operation case.
The hearing of the Toshakhana operation case began after three adjournments, in which the PTI Chairman's lawyer Khawaja Haris arrived in court and said that I want to make submissions. We were stopped from entering the High Court, we are filing a request for transfer of your court.
The court, while delivering the verdict, said that the allegation against the accused has been proven. The accused had a false statement recorded, the accused gave a false declaration, the accused gave a false sworn statement in the Election Commission. The court declared the PTI Chairman guilty of corrupt practices. The verdict said that the dishonesty of the PTI Chairman has been proven. The court sentenced the former Prime Minister to three years in prison and also imposed a fine of one lakh rupees on him.
The court ordered the immediate arrest of the PTI Chairman and said that the IG Islamabad should execute the arrest warrant.
After the decision of the District and Session Court in Islamabad, there was intense sloganeering by the supporters of the PML-N lawyers in the court premises.
Earlier, in the Toshakhana felony operation case, Judge Humayun Dilawar had given the PTI Chairman's lawyer a final deadline to give arguments, saying that I will deliver the verdict if arguments are not given by 12 o'clock.
The hearing began after two adjournments due to the non-arrival of the PTI Chairman's lawyer in court, in which the assistant lawyer Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry appeared before the Additional District and Session Judge Humayun Dilawar on behalf of the PTI Chairman's lawyer Khawaja Haris and said that Khawaja Haris is present in the Accountability Court, he has requested for more time.
