PTA received $425 Million for 3G License during Auction

Today, PTA has set the auction for the sale of 3G and 4G Spectrum. One Telecom Company has bid the License for $425 Million. The availability of 3G Spectrum will change the way we communicate and explore the Virtual World of Internet.

PTA is expecting to earn $1 to $2 Billion. The Telecom Companies are more interested in 3G spectrum instead of 4G as the current frequency suits 3G.

4 Mobile Companies are participating in auction including Mobilink Jazz, Ufone, Telenor and Zong, while Warid is not a part of this Auction.

The current Auction is for 5 major cities of Pakistan including Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta. The Second Phase of Auction will cover other 80 Cities. The Second Phase for the sale of 3G Spectrum will start about 18 months later.

The launch of 3G will boost up Pakistani Telecom Sector and will create about 10,000 of Telecom Jobs.

Pakistan is still haven’t attain the 3G and 4G Technology, while Country like Afghanistan has got the same 2 years ago. Now after so much Controversies and delay, Pakistan is all set to launch the auction of 3G Spectrum. Last day, PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) has testified the Software to be use for auction. The auction for 3G and 4G License will be go through Online Procedure, while PTA will educated the parties who will attend the auction.

4 Pakistani Telecom Companies are taking part in the auction excluding Warid Telecom. The qualified companies are Mobilink Jazz, Ufone, Telenor and Zong. All of these companies will take part in auction from Islamabad Head Offices in the presence of their respective Board of Directors and Senior Administrators.

PTA is using modern method for auction i.e. Simultaneous multiple-round ascending (SMRA), which is used by developed countries like Sweden, Norway, Canada Hong Kong and America.

The Mobile Operators will get Specific Color Cards instead of their name, no Party can know about that party that who has bid, that will increase the competition between the Mobile Companies. Every next bid will have to submit after a gap of 45 minutes, while every next bid requires submitting at least 3 percent more value than previous one.

Department of Excise suggest 25 percent increase in Professional Tax

Department of Excise & Taxation of Punjab has decided to increase the Professional Taxes, the Excise Department will submit the summary to Punjab Government in this regard. The tax will be applicable to Engineers, Doctors, Lawyers, Construction Engineers, Jewelers and other persons. The expected increase will be from 10 to 25 percent.

The Excise Department is planning to include 13000 such persons who are still out of Tax net including Lawyers and persons who are connected with other professions. Last time, the increase of Professional Taxes was witnessed in 1999.

The Government of Punjab levied Professional Tax for the first time on every profession in 1964, when every professional was required to submit 30 rupees as professional tax.

The Excise Department has stated that the lack of staff and data resulted in loss of revenue. Currently following professions are included in the Tax net:

Property Dealers, Motorcycle Dealers, Motorcar Dealers, Employees of any organization, Doctors, Pharmacists, Homeopathic, Audit Firm, Engineers, Tax Consultants, Cable Operators, Departmental Stores, Money Exchangers, Architects, Stock Exchange Dealers, Organizations that Recruit Employees, Transporters, Printing Press, Pesticide Dealers, Contractors, Electronic Goods Stores, Tobacco Dealers, Companies that are registered under Companies Ordinance 1984, Factories that are registered under Factories Act 1932 and other Commercial Organizations, Importers, Exporters.

The Excise Department has set a target to collect Professional Tax of 45 million rupees, while about Excise Department has acquired more than 29 million.

Kingdom Tower Construction will start next Week

Kingdom Tower is a master planned Building and will be a part of Jeddah Saudi Arabia. The Skyscraper Building will snatch the record of tallest Building from Burj Al Khalifa located in UAE with 828 meters of height. Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal is the financing the project. The purposed height of Building is 1000 Meter, while the previous name of building was Mile Tower as they planning to construct a mile high tower.

The total expected cost of Building is 75 Billion Saudi Riyals. Adrian Smith has design the building. The Building is a part of Kingdom City which is under development phase to make the Saudi Arabia Business and Economic Zone.

Captain of South Korean Vessels apologized for ferry disaster

The captain of South Korean Vessels has apologized to the families of the victims and the missing persons. Last day, The Korean’s biggest maritime disaster resulted in death of 9 people and 290 are missing. 178 persons were rescued. Total of 475 persons were on board on ship.

Most of the missing people include students of Primary Section who were on Educational Tour. 6 Crew members along with Captain of Ship were saved, while the investigation has turned into new directions. The captain of that Vessel is in the custody of coast guards.

Talking with media officials, the Captain of destroyed Vessels said that "I am so sorry and I am ashamed. I'm lost for words.

The authorities are investigating that why the crew members didn’t use the 46 life boats and life jackets.

Change in New Islamabad Airport Road Master Plan

New Islamabad Airport is located in outskirts of Islamabad City and the Master Plan PC-1 to access the Airport requires travelling of 15 KM from Kashmir Highway Glora Morr, while 11 KM Road is already constructed and in useable form passing from Sector H-15, H-16 and H-17. The 6 Lane Highway requires construction of 4 KM Road from Motorway Zero Point M2 to Airport, this was the most economical plan which the authorities has canceled on unknown grounds.

-          The Proposed Railway Track of Islamabad to Texila will no more available due to construction of new Road

-          The visitors require traveling 2.5 KM to park their Vehicle even after entering into the Airport Premises

The Federal Minister for Planning stated that the Planning Commission is of the view that the Approach Road for Airport should have 300 feet of Right of Way to benefit the Government. Such type of Development resulted in escalation of real estate.

The Minister stated in response to a question regarding 2.5 KM travelling for Parking that this is due to Future Proposed Runway, on the other hands the Runways of modern airports like Dublin Berlin and Amsterdam, Dubai, Sydney and Manchester are located on above the Road Tunnels.
